Examination

Brighton & Hove

We, at Hangleton Dental Practice, critically review the patient’s dental health through regular dental exams.

During the exam, our dentist will check for cavities and gum disease. The exam includes evaluating your risk of developing other oral problems and checking your face, neck and mouth for abnormalities. A dental exam might also include dental X-rays (radiographs) or other diagnostic procedures.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING Examination?

At each check-up, your dentist should:

Examine your teeth, gums and mouth
Ask about your general health and any problems you’ve had with your teeth, mouth or gums since your last visit and will always check your mouth for signs of mouth cancer
Ask about, and give you advice on, your diet, smoking and alcohol use, and teeth-cleaning habits
Will take necessary x rays to help us reach a diagnosis and formulate a treatment plan
Discuss a date for your next visit

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I see a dentist?

This depends on your dental disease risk. Your dentist will typically see you anything from 3 months to 1 year. A dentist not only checks your teeth but will also carry out oral cancer screening during an examination appointment.

How can I prevent problems in my mouth like tooth decay?

There are three main ways to do this:

Clean your teeth twice a day and clean in between them with floss or tepe brushes once a day
Have a good diet – it’s the frequency of sugars that cause a problem not the amount – so make sure not to snack in between meals and only drink water between meals.
Fluoride – use a fluoride toothpaste to help prevent decay

Finally, an NHS dentist that is brilliant 🤩. The staff are very nice and friendly and they treat you exactly the same as what you would expect from a Private dentist. All the staff are professional and explain everything without using jargon. We like going to the dentist now 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I had a filling on my front tooth today with Dr. Rosario Graziano at Hangleton Dental Practice and I couldn’t be happier with the result. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with kindness, respect, and professionalism. Dr. Graziano was friendly, caring, and took the time to explain everything, which made me feel completely at ease. The treatment was carried out with great skill and attention to detail, and the result looks fantastic. I truly appreciate the excellent care I received and would highly recommend Dr. Rosario Graziano to anyone looking for outstanding dental care. Thank you for such a positive experience.

I had my root canal here a couple of months ago, and I was honestly quite worried about it beforehand. But from the moment I met Dr. Rosario, I immediately felt at ease. He is incredibly professional, calm and reassuring. He made the whole procedure seem like it was nothing, and I could instantly tell I was in very experienced hands. Even before the treatment was finished, I already felt confident that everything was going to go well — I guess that’s the “Rosario effect”! 😊 Two months later, everything feels absolutely perfect. I have no discomfort at all, and it honestly doesn’t even feel like I’ve had any treatment done. I’m very grateful to Dr. Rosario for making something I was so worried about such a comfortable and positive experience. A genuinely kind and highly professional dentist. Thank you so much! 🙏

I had an emergency appointment at this dental surgery when I was visiting a friend in the area. The service was fantastic. I was in excruciating pain and given an appointment that morning where the dentist performed an extraction that was required for me to be pain free- even working through their lunch break to ensure that the treatment was possible. All of the staff were incredibly kind and considerate during my visit - I suffer from anxiety related to dentist visits - and they made me feel so comfortable.

I needed emergency dental treatment, and I couldn’t have asked for better care. One of the biggest advantages is that the practice is open seven days a week, which was invaluable when I needed help over the weekend. They arranged an appointment for me on Saturday to manage the pain, then booked me in with Dr George and Nardia on Sunday. From start to finish, the service was exceptional. Dr George was kind, highly skilled and reassuring. He only carried out the treatment that was genuinely necessary, saving my tooth and avoiding unnecessary expense. It’s rare to find such professionalism combined with such honest, patient focused care. A fantastic practice with an outstanding team. If I could give six stars, I absolutely would.
